OPAP is the leading national Greek gaming company and one of the largest gaming companies in the world. Founded in 1958, it was transformed into a public limited company in 1999.
OPAP's product portfolio is highly diversified, encompassing the national lottery, numerical lottery, sportsbook, scratch cards and horse racing. Recently, the company concession for the operation of games of chance has been extended until 2030. At the same time, it holds the only VLT operating license in Greece. The company has an established and widespread retail network – the largest in Greece, operating over 4,700 points of sale. In addition to the Greek market, the company also operates in Cyprus. In 2015, OPAP reported EUR 4.3 billion in revenues and EBITDA of EUR 227 million.
OPAP is the largest contributor to CSR programmes in Greece and its corporate social responsibility is built around three pillars: health, sports and employment. In recent years, OPAP renovated two floors in two children's hospitals. The company strove to instil sports values in over 10 thousand children by supporting more than 125 sports academies across Greece, while also being a proud sponsor of the Athens marathon. In addition, OPAP assists young companies in increasing their growth and employment potential.
In 2012, EMMA Group, through the investment fund EMMA Delta, joined a public tender for the privatization of the Government’s stake in OPAP. Together with its partners (ICT Group, KKCG, J&T and local partners George Melisandis and Christos Copeluzos) it won the tender and acquired a 33% stake, thus becoming the majority stakeholder in charge of the management of the company. SAZKA Group currently holds a 67% stake in the EMMA Delta fund.
