Tomáš Kočka

A native of Prague, Czech Republic, where he attended high school with a focus on mathematics and physics. His talent for mathematics and science was recognised in 1993, when he won a gold medal at the International Physics Olympiad in Williamsburg, U.S.A. After graduating in the field of Informatics and Statistics at Prague’s University of Economics and subsequently completing doctoral studies, he worked in Hewlett-Packard’s research lab in Aalborg, Denmark, focusing on applied statistics and probability models. In 2003 he was among the founders of Adastra Business Consulting, a company that quickly gained international acclaim and has become a leading consulting firm in data optimization and risk management. Since 2010, Tomáš Kočka worked for PPF Group as Investment Director of the Banking Division. Later, he began to perform managerial work for a key part of the company's portfolio - Home Credit Group. There he worked successively in the roles of Director of the Operational Risk Division of the group and later as CEO of Home Credit China. He left this position in 2010 and subsequently performed the function of Regional Executive Director for startup projects, such as Zonky, Dok and Velvon. He left Home Credit Group in 2020. At EMMA Group, among other projects, he founded Box Now: a startup project for delivering parcels to automated parcel machines, which grew so much over the course of a few years that by 2026 it was operating across five markets (Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia). He is also responsible on EMMA’s behalf for Packeta Group, and he leads the online insurance comparison service Rixo.cz. He has been a partner in EMMA Capital since its inception in 2012 and his remit also covers oversight of the Group’s acquisitions from an IT perspective.
