Entain CEE

EMMA Group ownership: 22.5%

Overview

Entain CEE was formed in 2022 after EMMA Capital sold a 75% stake in Croatian gaming firm SuperSport to Entain, which is a global leader in the sector. Both partners then transferred their stakes into a joint venture called Entain CEE, with EMMA Capital holding a 25% stake in the joint venture.

SuperSport itself was founded in 2000 and gradually developed into the largest gaming company in Croatia. Today, SuperSport offers online sports betting and traditional in-branch betting, as well as online gaming products and virtual sports games.

In April 2018, SAZKA Group became a strategic partner of the company and acquired a 67% stake in SuperSport. This stake passed to EMMA Capital after the division of SAZKA Group’s assets between its two shareholders, KKCG and EMMA. EMMA then bought the remaining one-third stake from the remaining minority shareholder and was thus the sole shareholder of SuperSport until the transaction with Entain in 2022.

In 2023, Entain CEE made another major acquisition: it bought a 99.28 percent stake in Poland's largest bookmaker STS. The previous majority shareholders of STS, the Juroszek family, then entered Entain CEE by subscribing for 10% of the shares. EMMA Capital’s stake in Entain CEE thus decreased to 22.5%.

STS was founded in 1997 as a bookmaker offering sports betting through a branch network. In 1999, the company was bought by the longtime majority owners, the Juroszek family. Today, STS offers Polish customers sports betting not only through its branch network, but also through its own internet platform. Its product portfolio also includes live card and virtual sports games. In December 2021, the company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, becoming the largest publicly-traded company of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe.
